Health Programmes strive to enhance public health by focusing on three key objectives: empowering citizens to make informed health choices, improving knowledge, attitude and practices related to non-communicable diseases and mental health, and enhancing the accessibility and quality of services. These goals are achieved by developing skilled workforces, raising awareness through targeted platforms, and upgrading supportive environments for at risk groups.
The ASRH&R and HIV programme promotes positive behaviour among adolescents aged 10 to 24 years old. The programme targets adolescents both in and out of school, pairing schools and out of school clubs with youth organisations and health centres to provide youth-friendly services.
The programme also trains peer educators to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and teaches adolescents to reduce the risks of unplanned pregnancies.
The family planning programme aims at increasing contraceptive prevalence among families with unmet needs, by improving the quality, access and utilisation of family planning services.
The Mental Health programme aims to improve knowledge, attitudes and practices among Rwandans, to decrease the burden of mental health related issues and other non-communicable diseases.
