Ms. Geraldine UMUTESI is the Deputy Director General in charge of Institutional Development, with over 18 years of experience in Strategic & Project Management in the areas of Family promotion, Health, Education and Youth empowerment.
She worked at Kigali Genocide Memorial Center from 2004 to 2006, in charge of Social & Education Programme.
Ms. Umutesi holds a Masters of Arts in Leadership and Organisation and a Bachelor Degree in Science with Education and completed professional Certificate programmes in various areas, such as Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), Strategic Management, Conflict transformation, Health Promotion, Gender-based Violence, Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights.
She has been a Councillor of the Kigali City Council, Former Board Member of Rwanda National Children Commission, Member of various sector working groups under Health Promotion, ECD & Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights, Genocide Prevention and Active Citizenship.
She has been a Public Speaker and Moderator in various national & international conferences such as: the National Dialogue, Commission of Status of Women 2018 at the UN General Assembly, Interest International Conference on HIV, the National Dialogue, Youth Connect Forum, to mention a few.
Geraldine is passionate about human-centered programming and empowering communities. She is among the Pioneers of the “Family Approach” initiated by Genocide Survivors, to restore the sense of belonging among the Young Survivors to become resilient and contribute to the National Development & Genocide Prevention.
